Provides a good way for a group of teenagers to entertain themselves. Works well and they like the ability to qualify for additional songs to play and sing. Also good for family gatherings.
Being a large fan of rock band I purchased this game in a combo pack with RB1 and Beatles Rock Band. I enjoyed the first rock band game so I decided to pick them all up for a reasonable price. The game itself is the same, you hit the colors as they come at you. The new list of songs is right up my alley with bands like Rise Against, Paramore, Billy Idol, Journey, and more.
The Dev tried to add a few new twists into the game that play rather nicely such as double or nothing challenges that apply to both money and fans. The challenges seem to be chosen at random and offer some kind of bonus i.e. no money but twice the fans(and vice versa), Hot Topic Sponsorship, impress the MTV scouts, etc… A lot of the clothing looks familiar from the first game but there are a few new pieces thrown in to help it look fresh. So if you played the first one and had a look you liked it’s probably there. The hair and ink section seems to have been given more love this time around. Lots more hair choices and a different set of tattoos never hurts.
Difficulty for this game is hard to judge since it’s by song but I feel that it right around where the first one is but more difficult than the Beatles game. The difficulty breakdown is now visible by instrument per song. So if you look at White Wedding it shows you 1-5 points of difficulty for each singer, guitar, bass, and drums.
Overall I am happy that I purchased this game, it has enough content that I don’t mind playing but there are patches where I don’t know the songs that makes it kinda boring in my opinion. A reasonable purchase if you want more Rock Band that seems fresh and isn’t band specific.
Rock Band 2 is a really great, and fun game to play. I own the first Rock Band, and Guitar Hero World Tour, and I must say, this is the best of them all! Rock Band 2 has a tad bit more features than the first, and has a huge setlist of over 100 songs when you count the already over 80 great songs on the disc, the 20 free downloads that come with buying the game new, and the awsome songs you should already have bought from the Rock Band store, and if you haven’t shame on you. Anyways, theres not much of a difference graphic wise, and this time around Band World Tour can be used Online, as well as locally, and theres alot to do in this mode. This time you can have sponsors, hire your own managers and other assets, earn vehicles to travel with, gain or lose fans, and of course earn money to customize your rocker. I bought the game only, because I already own the instruments from the first Rock Band, so I saw no reason to buy the newer instruments. Overall, Rock Band 2 should be fun for the whole family, and if you dont have a family, play online and meet up with people and make a band to take the world by storm. 5/5.
I like video games, my daughter is a PSP addict, but my wife does not like video games at all.
But with Rock Band 2 she spends some time playing with us, specially after discovering that she can get stuff with the money she earn in the band.
